Even though Greenland and Serbia are far away from each other, news and information about Greenland have always found their way to the Serbian press and readers in Serbia. The University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade and Adligat/Lazić Library would like to present a portal entitled “Greenland in historical Serbian newspapers” which contains dozens of articles depicting the cultural relations of Greenland and Serbia. Articles published between 1892 and 1948 denote a variety of topics which were of interest to Serbian readers. From geography, exploration of the outer space, hypotheses about the history of settling Greenland, to current political affairs, research technologies and botany, Serbian historical newspapers between the end of the 19th century and the second half of the 20th century presented to its readers information about Greenland and thereby permanently introduced this faraway island, its geography, culture and people to Serbia and Serbs.
